Oscar-winning actor Rami Malik was offered the role of a villain in Bond 25 but the actor had certain questions in mind before giving the nod. He didn’t mind playing a character who is some sort of a terrorist but he wanted to make sure that his evil ways aren’t affiliated with any religion. Before agreeing for the role, he made it clear to director Cary Fukunaga that he wouldn’t play the role of a religious fundamentalist.

“It’s a great character and I’m very excited but that was one thing I discussed with Cary,” the Bohemian Rhapsody star noted. “I said, ‘We cannot identify him with any act of terrorism reflecting an ideology or a religion. That’s not something I would entertain, so if that is why I am your choice then you can count me out.”

Fortunately Fukunaga had something completely different in mind that allowed Malik to take up the role without any reservation.

“That was clearly not his vision. So he’s a very different kind of terrorist,” he said.
