Mooroo makes vile joke on molestation; Umair Dar responds

Mooroo has called molestation, “natural”. This obviously hasn’t gone down well even if we are to believe – for a moment - that some people use dark humour to deal with such sensitive subjects.

Taimoor Salahuddin, better known as Mooroo, has his own video logs where he shares his views on a myriad of issues. He is one of the most popular artists on YouTube, who entertains millions.

However, in a recent video Mooroo has called molestation, “natural”. This obviously hasn’t gone down well even if we are to believe – for a moment - that some people use dark humour to deal with such sensitive subjects.

Things took a turn for the worst when Mooroo – having received backlash on his first objectionable video - released a second video in which he begins by talking about how child molestation is a serious matter and as a society we must deal with it strictly. Within the same video we find Mooroo lying on a bed, talking about a vacation with his family in Nathia Gali, where he starts talking to a spider in his room.

The two discuss disturbing things including a point where Mooroo calls himself a child molester while the spider says she will lay eggs in his mouth. It reverts to Mooroo where he says to understand something you first must understand the context. His bizarre point was that in the world of animals, there are no rules, and there is no morality. He talks about the animal world where infanticide, rape, and molestation exist, something Mooroo said he was trying to convey via a joke, taunt and goes on to say that we, human, are moral beings. “I was talking to an animal, like an animal (referring to the extremely disturbing spider conversation).” In the end, he asks viewers to watch the video again and either understand the joke and if not, the comments section is open.

Founder of Aleph and a member of the progressive music group, The D/A Method, Umair Dar, however, had more to say on the subject; consequently he was blocked by Mooroo.

Umair Dar responded to the video(s) where Mooroo calls molestation “natural” and stated on Facebook: “Bro, seriously, this is the lamest excuse. Your ‘joke’ was completely insensitive inappropriate - and I’m not one to endorse the insane liberal pc culture being forced upon this world, but what’s wrong is wrong – and making fun of child molestation and then trying to cover up for it with an even worst attempt at suggesting that ‘rape’ is natural is truly disgusting. I expected a lot better from you. Please respectfully apologise and stop trying to justify what cannot be justified. I hope you never have to know the horrors the victims of these crimes undergo. Let’s build a more empathetic world. Your content is usually quite socially responsible and intellectually stimulating. Please reconsider your stance.”

This non-abrasive comment was deleted and blocked while Mooroo had earlier said comments section is open. Dar took to his Facebook account and reacted strongly.

Speaking to Instep, the usually calm Dar noted, “Making jokes about child rape and molestation is not okay. My comments were not abrasive. Rather than apologise to the outrage, he actually makes a spider skit out of it. He says that he’s speaking to a spider. There should have been a simple apology. He deleted my comment. I respectfully had asked him to reconsider his stance. In the video, he had said all comments are welcome but he deleted my comment and he blocked me from his pages. Anyone saying anything critical about it has been deleted and blocked.”

Umair Dar added: “I’m an activist, I know about child-rape and I know about the Illuminati and I’m not afraid of any of this stuff. When he put Illuminati imagery on his album cover, I didn’t say anything. It was extremely problematic but I didn’t say anything because there was nothing to suggest that it was anything other than a joke. However, the first thing they teach you in the Illuminati is that you are an animal and accept your animal nature.”

"I will not be silenced nor will I relent - These issues are crucially important and it's our collective responsibility to take those who propagate such toxic views to task," said Umair Dar.

There is no way to defend these videos and Mooroo should simply have apologised since his videos are watched by many. Another one bites the dust.

– This is a developing story
