Saba Qamar, who is clearly winning hearts in ongoing drama serial Cheekh, made her big screen debut in India with Hindi Medium alongside Irrfan Khan. Following her memorable performance in the film that featured her as a mother of a school-going daughter, she was nominated in the Best Actress Category at the FilmFare Awards 2018.

Saba has another feather in her cap; she has been included in the list of top five onscreen mothers in Bollywood, in an article published in an Indian publication, with reference to Mother’s Day (May 12).

“Along with Irrfan Khan, Saba Qamar impressed everyone by playing a mother who is too much worried about her daughter’s future and wants to get her admitted in the best school,” the article, titled ‘Onscreen Bollywood mothers who stole the show’, notes. “A very relatable character played by Saba, who impressed everyone with her performance.”

Other actors who have been added to the list as the finest onscreen mothers ever played in Bollywood include Sridevi for English Vinglish, Tabu in Haider, Swara Bhaskar in Nil Battey Sannata and Seema Pahwa in Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal in Saavdhan.

While the political rift between Pakistan and India continues to affect cultural exchanges between the two countries, artists on both sides of the border somehow play their part in bridging the gap.
