It seems like actor-director Shamoon Abbasi is on a roll these days. Though he is currently busy with the post production of his much anticipated film, Durj, which has entered phase one of the Cannes 2019 screening, Abbasi is all geared up for his upcoming web series, titled The Urban Legend of Jawed Iqbal and the 100 Smiles.

“Real life stories and events have always inspired me and this web series/miniseries is again based on a true story,” Shamoon Abbasi told Instep. “Right now we are just waiting for Durj to get to a point and we will start shooting for the web series probably after Eid.”

Talking about the cast, Abbasi shared, “The cast has not been finalized as yet. However, I am essaying the character of Jawed Iqbal in the miniseries, which will highlight the part of his life that many people are unaware of; like how it all started and what the actual story is. It will be focused on details that will create an interesting screenplay.”

According to Abbasi, many people are skeptical about the recently released poster that says The Legend of Jawed Iqbal. “I just want to clarify that we are not calling Jawed Iqbal the legend. We have used ‘legend’ which actually means storytelling. However, we might change the poster and re-launch it within a month,” he added, saying that the story will highlight the journey of a serial killer who murdered 100 children and later surrendered himself to the police for the heinous crime he committed.
