Our prime minister attended the ‘water for life’ conference in Tajikistan recently. The point to ponder is: what could possibly Pakistan gain from attending water conferences when we ourselves are water blind? There is no water policy.
We have not built any water storage dam after the Mangla and Tarbela dams which were the handiwork of a strong man. Every trouble in our country is justified as being the ‘beauty of democracy’. Even the desperate water shortage is placed in that category with a city of 20 million starving for water. Thar and Karachi and also Balochistan cannot get extra water unless the Kalabagh dam is built.
