It sounds strange that JI Amir Dr Sirajul Haq especially arranged an all-women gathering in Karachi and went to address them in connection with the by-election in the NA-246 constituency whereas in his home constituency Dir he barred them from participating in the polls. This smacks of double standards. What is the difference between the women in Karachi and those in his hometown?
Sirajul Haq gave lame excuses that women in villages were busy in their work and could not waste time in voting, forgetting that women in Karachi have similar duties to perform. The Election Commission should ensure full participation of women in the poll rerun in the best interests of society.
