Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced a new comprehensive programme call Ehsas, which is meant to address the poverty faced by deprived citizens. Through the programme, 5.7 million women will get savings accounts and mobile phones. A separate ministry will be established to run the programme. Is it advisable to launch such a programme when something similar is already running under the federal government – initiated by the PPP-led government in 2008 – with the mandate to address the same issues?
