Javeria stars in SBP women’s last-ball victory

ISLAMABAD: Javeria Rauf (60) powered State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to an exciting last ball win against title favourites ZTBL in the Inter-Department Women T20 Cricket Championship at the Diamond Club Ground Thursday.

It was ZTBL’s first defeat in women T20 in three-year time as SBP chased down 137 runs victory target on the last ball of the match. Javeria smashed five boundaries and one six during her 50-ball knock to steal the show.

Together with Sidra Amin (30), Javeria raised 66 runs for the second wicket that laid the foundation of State Bank victory. Fatima Sana (2-13) bowled well for ZTBL.Earlier, Muneeba Ali (36) did well for ZTBL to take the score to 136 for 6 in 20 overs. Off break Hafsa Amjad (2-24) was the pick of bowlers for State Bank.

In the second match of the day PCB XI defeated HEC by eight wickets in a one-sided affair. Scores: HEC 97-7 in 19 overs (Tooba Hasan 41, Diana Baig 15*, Naila Nazir 2-18, Waheeda Akhtar 2-36, Rameem Shamim 1-12, Aroob Shah 1-21). PCB XI 99-2 in 15.4 overs (Ayesha Naseem 52*, Kainat Hafeez 15, Lubna Bukhari 1-7, Tooba Hasan 1-24). Result: PCB XI won by 8 wickets. Player of the match: Ayesha Naseem (PCB XI).
