Commissioner Karachi XI beat SJAS XI in friendly T20 match

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi XI beat Sports Journalist Association of Sindh XI (SJAS XI) by 12 runs in a friendly T20 game here at the Karachi Gymkhana on Monday.

After opting to bat first, Commissioner Karachi XI posted 171 in the allotted 20 overs with veteran Abbas Valika hammering 71 not out off 55 deliveries. Deputy Commissioner South Salahuddin Ahmed made 30. Kashif Farooqui claimed three wickets.

In reply, SJAS made a fine effort but failed to finish the game as they managed 159-4. Openers Shahid Ansari (44) and Anisuddin Ahmed (25) provided a solid base to SJAS but they fell short of the target.

Arshad Wahab (20) and Tariq Hussain (19) were the other prominent contributors. Abbas Valika was declared the man of the match. Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shalwani, who batted nicely for his side, lauded the efforts of Sindh's sports journalists for reviving international sports in the country. He said he would always stand by SJAS in its efforts for promoting sports.
