Asad Munir case: NAB Chief to personally investigate alleged suicide

Asad Munir who also served an intelligence agency was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his flat on March 15.

ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has decided to personally investigate alleged suicide by Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir.

A press release issued here Monday reads, “Chairman NAB has summoned all the record in this regard from NAB Rawalpindi immediately.

Asad Munir who also served an intelligence agency was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his flat on March 15.

Family sources said Munir was deeply upset over the treatment meted out to him by NAB over an inquiry into restoration of a plot in F-11 area of the federal capital.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa on Thursday took notice of a letter which Brigadier (retd) Asad Munir wrote before committing suicide.

The letter was addressed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan in which former Member Estate Capital Development Authority (CDA) said he was giving his life in the hope that the chief justice would bring positive changes in the system where incompetent people are playing with the life and honor of citizen in the name of accountability, in a reference to National Accountability Bureau.
