This was stated by Deputy Consul General of Japan to Pakistan Katsunori Ashida, during his visit to the MMCL plant in Karachi.

He appreciated the successful completion of the trainee programme under the UNDP’s Youth Empowerment Programme.

“We are happy to be part of this programme, which is enabling youth to earn their livelihood in a dignified manner,” the deputy consul general said.

The programme is chaperoned by UNDP and funded by USAid and the government of Japan, the statement said.

The programme aims at bringing employable skills and employment to the unemployed and unskilled youth. UNDP authorised training institute, TUSDEC, provided seasoned and experienced trainers to conduct both classroom and on-job training for the apprentices, it added.
