Senate’s Pak-Oman friendship body visits Oman

MUSCAT: Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Muscat, joined Majid Al Rouahi, Mohammad Al Rawas and Mahfoodh Al Wahaibi, honorable members State Council (Upper House) to welcome honorable senators Kabeer Ahmed Shahi and Ashok Kumar Ratnani at Muscat Airport, says a press release.

The delegation is visiting the brotherly Sultanate from March 17-21. Their visit comes within the framework of ‘MoU for Cooperation between the Upper Houses’, signed here in Muscat by Chairman Senate of Pakistan Sadiq Sanjrani and Chairman State Council of Oman Dr Yahya al Mantheri on Nov 19, 2018.

The ambassador welcomed the visit as a perfect occasion for furthering bilateral relations, adding that it was aligned with ongoing celebrations of ‘Pakistan Day’ across Oman.The ambassador underlined that the two senators brought added significance to bilateral relations. “Whereas Senator Shahi represents Balochistan and Over 1/3rd Omanis are Baloch, Senator Kumar hails from ‘Kalaat’ whose Prince (Nawab of Kalaat) gifted Gwadar of former Sultan of Oman in 1783, tying tied both nations in blood-bond for 175 years, the period for which Gwadar remained part of Sultanate.”

The delegation shall call on leaders of Upper & Lower houses, convene inaugural meeting of ‘Friendship Committee’ and meet Yahya Jabri and Qais al Yousef, Chairman Pak-Oman Investment Company and Oman Chambers of Commerce respectively.Meeting with Dr Ahmed Al Futaisi, Minister Transport & Communications is also set in addition to a briefing from Foreign Secretary of Oman, Dr Mohammad Al Hassan.
