KARACHI: Karachi cops violated the order of their chief as they harassed and humiliated a married couple at Seaview beach on Monday by asking them to show 'Nikahnama'(marriage certificate) to prove their credentials as husband and wife.

Shocking video that went viral shows that four cops, two of them were plain-clothed scuffled and brutally reacted to a married couple, who were walking along with Karachi beach, after their refusal to show the Nikahnama (marriage certificate).

The Karachi police chief took the notice after the video went viral and reportedly suspended all the policemen involved in the heinous act of the harassment.

The detained officials include ASI Zulfiqar, officer Ahmed Khan, Qurban and Zahid respectively. According to reports, a request against two officers to be removed from duty has been filed.

Meanwhile, SSP South will record statements of all the police officers and take decision accordingly.

Last year in October, the Additional Inspector General of Police Amir Sheikh, wrote a letter to address the Deputy Inspector Generals (DIG) South, West and East Zones Karachi, stating: "You are hereby directed to issue strict instructions to the subordinate staff not to demand 'nikahnama' from any person. In future, such complaints shall not be tolerated and action against supervising officers will also be initiated."
