There are a few federal- and provincial-run organisations where there are a handful dead-end jobs – it means that there is almost no effective path that leads to employees’ career growth. I personally know many gifted and talented officers and ministerial staff members, both in the federal and provincial organisations, whose jobs no longer excite them as they feel that they’re stagnated at their workplaces.
Being stuck in a dead-end job, they are suffering from mental stress because they know that they won’t be promoted to a higher grade. Almost all government organisations have the policy of annual salary increment and performance-based promotions. It is unfortunate that the organisations don’t follow these rules. The higher authorities must look into the matter and take steps to ensure that employees are duly promoted. To ensure increased productivity, all organisations must put great focus on employees’ motivation and job satisfaction.
