According to Geo News corespondent in the area, strict security arrangements were in place at the border.

Earlier, Indian acting High Commissioner arrived at the Foreign Office where he was formally informed about handing over Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.

Citing diplomatic sources, Geo News reported that the pilot would be returned to Indian officials in the afternoon.

The sources said officials of the Indian High Commission would receive the detainee.

An Indian group captain will escort the pilot to his country, the sources said

Abhinandan was shot down over Kashmir on Wednesday, after a dogfight in the skies over the disputed Himalayan region which sent tensions between India and Pakistan to their highest levels in years and alarmed world powers, who issued calls for restraint.
