Islamabad ease past Karachi to 7-wicket win

LAHORE: Islamabad United eased to a seven wickets win against Karachi Kings in match 13 of the Pakistan Super League season four at Sharjah Stadium on Saturday night.

In their chase of Kings 143 for six, Islamabad United managed 147 for three with little trouble with 23 balls to spare. Luke Ronchi played a leading role in United’s win with his unbeaten 67 runs he got off 35 balls. His innings was laced with 11 boundaries and three sixes. Samit Patel provided full support to Ronchi with his 30-ball 45 and both the players had 62 runs partnership they got in 7.1 overs.

Imad Wasim was the only successful bowler with two wickets. Ronchi and Patel joined hands at the end of ninth over and both achieved the score in 16.1 overs. Islamabad United were 116-3 at the end of over-13 in their chase of 144 runs target. Imad Wasim got the important wicket of Sahibzada Farhan, who got bowled after a fine inning of 30. The Kings skipper next removed Hussain Talat, getting him stumped on 0. Cameron Delport was run out at 5 by Colin Munro.

Earlier, Karachi Kings posted a respectable 143 on the board at the loss of six wickets, thanks to Ben Dunk and Aamer Yamin who provided a much-needed flow of runs while sharing a 50-run stand. The duo posted 49 and 35, respectively. Colin Munro fell to the very first ball he faced in PSL, after he got caught by Hussain Talat of Rumman Raees delivery. Mohammad Musa picked his first scalp, after Awais Zia was caught at deep by Samit Patel on 3. Colin Ingram became the first victim of Faheem Ashraf, after he was caught by Rumman Raees on 5. Later on, Samit Patel created a major breakthrough after he got Kings mainstay Babar Azam run out on 27. Livingstone who provided stability got bowled of Faheem Ashraf on 22, Imad Wasim followed the very next ball after he dragged the ball to the off stump and departed without opening hi account.
