In the wake of the Pulwama attack in Indian occupied Kashmir, it is highly anticipated that India will be boycotting to play Pakistan at the ICC World Cup 2019.

While the Indian government and the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) is yet to reach a decision on the matter, a few veteran players have come forth supporting the boycott.

These include players like Harbhajan Singh and Sourav Ganguly.

“I agree that after this attack, India should not only stop playing cricket, hockey or football with Pakistan but should cut all ties with them," Ganguly had said.

Responding to this comment, former Pakistani batsman Javed Miandad has shed light on his views amongst the rising tensions between both the countries.

Miandad in his statement has said that he senses a political inclination in Ganguly's remark which indicates that Ganguly might be planning to run for the upcoming general elections in India.

"I think Sourav wants to run for elections in the coming days or wants to become the chief minister as it is just a publicity stunt to gain the attention of his country mates. We should not bother with India’s cowardly acts instead we must focus on improving ourselves. Pakistan has always offered India a peaceful resolution of the issues but Indians have always responded in negative,” Miandad told APP.

Meanwhile, BCCI has written a letter to ICC requesting to sever ties with Pakistan.

In regards to this, Miandad said that he doesn't think the international body is going to entertain the Indian board's plea as the constitution allows all of the ICC members the right to participate in the tournaments they have qualified for.

"ICC will not accept this foolish and childish move by BCCI. There is absolutely no chance of ICC listening to BCCI as its constitution allows members the right to participate in its events,” said the 61-year-old.

Pakistan and India are to face each other at the World Cup on June 16 in England.
