KARACHI: Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Senior Vice President, Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), has said that there is a major trade imbalance in favour of India. Official exports from India are $1.8 billion comprising cotton, potato, tomato, plastic raw material (PMC), dyes, chemicals, artificial jewelry, cosmetics, whereas our export to India is only $484,000 comprising cement and dry dates.

Dr. Baig said it’s time now to move towards self-reliance in cotton production to avoid import from India. The FPCCI fully supports any move of the Ministry of Commerce & the Government of Pakistan to impose additional duties on imports from India on Indian goods in response to their decision.
