‘Leh Expressway Project’ design to be presented in a week

Rawalpindi : The concept design of ‘Leh Expressway Project’ will be presented in a week but it will take six months more to start construction work due to absence of money, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Deputy Director (Planning and Development) Azizullah Khan told ‘The News’ here on Wednesday.

He said that they were doing feasibility study of the project but private investors were not showing interest to invest such a big amount of over Rs50 billion.

RDA Deputy Director (Engineers) Akram Nadeem said that the estimated cost of the project has also now increased to Rs80 billion. But, they have only Rs600 million which is not enough even to start this project, he said.

H said that we have presented a detailed report of ‘Leh Expressway’ to Commissioner Rawalpindi who is also Project Director of this mega project.

He said that there will be lied 72 inch pipe from New Katariyan to Moti Mehal while 35 inch pipe and 2.5 inch pipes will also be lied down. We will construct 12.5 meter wide road on both sides of Leh Expressway. The width of Nullah Leh will be 40 to 50 meter and depth 7.5 meter where 47000 to 72000 cusec water could be absorbed here, he said.

RDA Deputy Director (Engineers) said that it will spend Rs41 billion for flood channel, Rs8 billion for sewerage, Rs21 billion for road work and Rs10 billion for other works like shifting of services etc.
