ISLAMABAD: Though it rained little in Islamabad on Monday, the Met Office forecast heavy rains from tonight to Friday.

A new weather system had entered the country on Sunday night causing downpour in the federal capital and adjoining areas. However, the next morning and the subsequent daytime saw light rainfall. The weather remained overcast.

According to a weatherman, the rain-bearing weather system is likely to further intensify on Tuesday evening or night and will last until Friday. He said widespread rain-thunderstorm with few moderate to scattered heavy rainfall was expected in Balochistan and at scattered places in Sindh from Tuesday evening to Thursday, and in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Tuesday evening to Friday.

The weatherman warned that heavy rainfall could trigger landslides in Malakand, Hazara, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and could cause flash floods in nullahs and riverine system of Balochistan and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday and Thursday.
