KARACHI: The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Saturday expressed disappointment over the unjust relocation of the anti-encroachment drive affectees by the mayor of Karachi.

KCCI President Junaid Esmail Makda rejected the balloting carried out by the mayor of Karachi, and said that a majority of the shopkeepers have been displaced to irrelevant localities, contrary to their businesses.

He said that the allotted space to the shopkeepers were smaller as compared to their razed shops. He also regretted that the shopkeepers would have to construct the shops out of their own pockets.

“It is a matter of grave concern that encroachment removed from one Nullah is being shifted near another Nullah at PIDC, which will neither be acceptable to the honourable apex court nor to the business community, as they will continue to fear all the time that someday they will again be removed from the alternate location,” Makda said.
