People going or coming towards Jail Chowrangi (roundabout) have an element of surprise for them. After 9pm, all access routes to Jail Road are blocked to the general public without even rerouting them properly. Thus, a great deal of confusion and mayhem ensues every evening. This has become a daily feature.
Granted that the prevailing security concerns dictate going extra mile to secure sensitive locations but blocking one of the main arteries of the provincial metropolis – and that too during rush hour – is playing with people’s emotions. Needless to say, such road closures and public transport restrictions cause difficulty for people travelling around. If the Central Jail cannot be shifted from its present location in the heart of the city then people at least have the right to be guided well. An adequate number of traffic constables should be posted there to try to make traffic as smooth as possible.
