Despite the targeted operation in Karachi, terrorists remain undisturbed and are able to strike at a place and time of their own choosing. The recent attack near Safoora Chowk gives rise to many questions.
As the captain of the operation in Karachi, the Sindh CM is accountable for its results. But the public perception about the provincial government is one of poor governance, corruption and incompetence. The police are deeply politicised, inept and busy in minting money. Neither the elected government nor the police show any seriousness in restoring law and order. It is time for the captain and his team to quit and hand over the affairs of the province to the army. The entire police force in Sindh needs to be replaced with new recruitment under the supervision of the corps commander and DG Rangers to develop a creditable and efficient force.
