Bollywood singer Mika Singh, who was in Dubai to perform at an awards show, was arrested in Abu Dhabi after a 17-year-old Brazilian model complained that he had sent her inappropriate messages.
However, recent reports suggest that the Indian singer has been released following the intervention of the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, according to Gulf News, and the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Singh Suri said that the singer is expected to appear in the court later.
A complained was lodged at the Muraqqabaat police station against him by a Brazilian teenager. Mika Singh was accused of sending indecent pictures while promising the model a role in a Bollywood movie. Though Singh was arrested in Dubai, the police took him to Abu Dhabi as the complainant holds an Abu Dhabi residence visa.
Mika Singh was supposed to return to India on Thursday after performing at a private party in Dubai. This is not his first brush with the law. In 2016, a Mumbai-based model had filed a complaint of molestation against him. The singer had lodged a counter-complaint alleging extortion. Also, the same year actress Rakhi Sawant alleged that Mr Singh had forcibly kissed her at his birthday party.
