A large number of people living in makeshift camps in a football ground near Turbat Road have not been compensated even after eight years of the flood caused by Cyclone Yemyin. The backflow of water in the Mirani Dam brought unprecedented destruction to the Kech district, leaving 50,000 people homeless and rendering 30,000 acres of agricultural land barren.
Recently, a meeting held in Islamabad on April 1, 2015 between the Balochistan chief minister and Ishaq Dar has created some hope regarding the payment of compensation. The CM is requested to at least release an emergency fund for rebuilding the damaged school in order to save the future of the children there.
