ISLAMABAD: Sheikh Rashid Shafique on Sunday won NA-60 by-election securing 44,483 votes against PML-N’s Sajjad Khan who stood second by begging 43,836 votes.
As many as nine candidates were vying for the NA-60, however the main contest was between PTI's Sheikh Rashid Shafique and PML-N's Sajjad Khan.
According to unofficial results received from NA-60, PTI's Rashid Shafique secured 44,483 votes to win the seat, while PML-N’s Sajjad Khan who stood second begged 43,836 votes.
The polling in NA-60 was postponed after the PML-N candidate Hanif Abbasi was arrested and declared ineligible to participate in elections.
The constituency of Rawalpindi city has total 356,935 registered voters including 189,464 male and 167,471 female.
