Indeed, the benefits of education for women and girls are many. Educating women helps reduce maternal mortality rates, improves the health of the whole family and enables them to efficiently manage resources. An educated woman ensures that her children will also be educated, thereby reducing illiteracy in our society.
The right to education has been well secured by the constitution and also by a number of international conventions that Pakistan has ratified. Every girl has the right to free and compulsory primary education. Women are also guaranteed equal rights with men in receiving vocational training and education in technology – but only on paper.
