QUETTA: Dr Ameer Mohammad Khan Jogezai, who was nominated as Balochistan Governor by Prime Minister Imran Khan, has dismissed media reports, saying he was ready to serve as Governor and his video statement was misinterpreted.

Talking to Geo News, Jogezai said, “I did not excuse to serve as Governor, my video message was misinterpreted.”

The nominated Governor said, “In the video statement, I had said that I won’t take oath as Governor till clearance from NAB.”

“I will take oath as Balochistan governor after clearance certificate from National Accountability Bureau next week.”

Jogezai thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan and Balochistan Awami Party for reposing trust in him.

Soon after he was nominated, media reported that National Accountability Bureau had been investigating against Jogezai.

NAB spokesman said, “Investigations against Dr Ameer Jogezai are in final phase and a reference will likely be filed against him soon.”

Media also reported that Jogezai has refused to serve as Governor over investigations pending in NAB.

However, he said there is no case or any FIR against him, adding that the case being discussed was lodged in 2005.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday nominated Dr Ameer Mohammad Khan Jogezai as Balochistan governor, said a notification issued by the party, Geo reported.
