While Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza are gearing up for the release of their upcoming social satire, Load Wedding on Eid ul Azha, their 2016 film Actor In Law is soon to get a screening in Mumbai. Starring Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat in lead roles, the film featured Indian actor Om Puri (late) in a prominent role and was one of the last films he shot for before he breathed his last.

In an attempt to honour the late actor, the film is scheduled to screen privately for a group of students at the Harkisan Mehta Institute in Mumbai on August 10. The screening will be led by the college’s orientation day, followed by the inauguration of the Om Puri Foundation.

We spoke to Nabeel Qureshi, the director of Actor In Law, and this is what he has to say about the screening: “It’s a pleasure. As a filmmaker I want my film to be seen by a large number of people, especially across the border, since the language and social issues we face are similar.”

Actor In Law that released in Pakistan two years back touched upon multiple prevalent social issues that confront a common man on a day to day basis. Om Puri, who didn’t charge a fee for the movie in which he played the role of Fahad’s father, took active part in the film’s promotions. The film was also screened at a film festival in Rajasthan, earlier this year.
