Actor-producer Humayun Saeed remains one of the most sought-after faces in Pakistan’s entertainment industry even after almost three decades of his acting career. He is still one artist who has a huge fan following and can beat any modern day actor with his performance and charm. After starring in multiple big banner Pakistani films including Bin Roye, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and the most recent Punjab Nahi Jaungi, the actor is gearing for the sequel, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 that has been directed by Nadeem Baig and is scheduled to release on Eid-ul-Azha.

Also the co-producer of the film, Humayun speaks to Instep about the upcoming part two of JPNA that is the second highest grossing Pakistani film after Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

“Considering the success of part one, people have very high expectations from the sequel,” he observed. “This was in our minds while making the film so instead of keeping the structure similar to the first one that didn’t focus much on the story, we chose to incorporate a narrative into it.”

Speaking of people’s reactions on the film’s trailer, he said that some people felt that it’s more serious with more drama but others are happy to see that there is more to it than just humour. He added that if they had made the sequel on similar lines, even then people would have criticized that there is nothing new so they have tried to add something substantial apart from comedy and humour.

Humayun also spoke about some conscious decisions they took when writing and directing the sequel.

“There was criticism post trailer launch of JPNA on some scenes that featured inappropriate dressing because we showed a foreign beach and people had objections with it,” he explained. “This time there is nothing like that. I feel that in our society when people go to watch a film with their families they don’t appreciate or expect explicit or vulgar content; many people choose to watch a Pakistani film over a Bollywood or Hollywood movie for its value as family entertainment. We need to take care of that and we have tried to make it in a way that families can come and watch it together, without any embarrassment.”

Humayun Saeed will be seen opposite Kubra Khan while the film also stars Fahad Mustafa, Mawra Hocane, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmed Ali Butt, Sarwat Gilani and Uzma Khan, among others.
