Pakistan’s foreign policy is inherently non-interventionist. Yet it has always been unequivocal in its political, diplomatic and humanitarian support for Muslims in Palestine and Kashmir. Saudi Arabia is a brotherly Muslim country with an immutable religious reverence, therefore its call for help needs to be considered with utmost sincerity. This is what our civilian and military leadership is doing at the moment.
Pakistan’s leadership and Pakistanis are sincere in defending the territorial sanctity of the holy land but in the given situation of unrest in Yemen Pakistan has to play a larger role. Pakistan’s role and actions should also justify its traditional policy of non-intervention and of sincere concern for the plight of the Muslim Ummah. Our leadership has rightly urged the need for a political solution to the Yemeni crisis while using the available diplomatic tools of international organisations like the UN and the OIC.
