“The press conference for the $15,000 Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) International Squash Championship will be held on the 6th at the venue, PN Roshan Khan Jahangir Khan Squash Complex,” said Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) secretary Amir Nawaz.
The said international event is open to Pakistan nationals only. The qualification draw has 16 players, including four local ones, and its matches are scheduled from April 9-10. The main draw also has 16 players, including one wildcard, and its matches are to be played from April 11-14.
The main draw matches are to be played as follows: top seed Nasir Iqbal will face Aamir Malik from the United Arab Emirates; Farhan Mehboob is to face third seed Farhan Zaman; fourth seed Danish Atlas Khan is drawn against Asim Khan; and wild card Faraz Muhammad will play against fifth seed Tayyab Aslam.
Sixth seed Adil Maqbool, second seed Aamir Atlas, seventh seed Shahjahan Khan, and eighth seed Saqib Yousaf will play against qualifiers.
Professional Squash Association (PSA) has awarded Pakistan four international events this year. The two PSA-15 events, open to only Pakistan-origin players, are being held next month in Karachi and Lahore.
Two PSA-25 events, open to foreign players as well, are likely to be held in October in Islamabad due to security reasons.
