Brighto Paints advance in Ramazan T20 Cricket

KARACHI: Brighto Paints and Dollar East prevailed over their respective rivals in the fifth edition of the Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament 2018 being played under floodlights, here at the picturesque Hussain Lawai Stadium.

Brighto Paints whipped Rahman Foundation by 86 runs while Dollar East humbled Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) by nine wickets to get off to winning start to the competition being sponsored by Naya Nazimabad for the fifth year running. Batting first, Brighto Paints was bowled out for 162 in 19.3 overs with Zeeshan Ali (56 off 40 balls), Zeeshan Nazir (50 off 35 balls) and Bilal Shah (29 off 13 balls) being the leading scorer while Rafay Safdar (4-19) and Ahmed Nadeem (2-23) took the bowling honours.

Chasing a target of 163 off 20 overs, Rahman Foundation didn’t recover from a shaky start to be routed for 17.3 overs. The innings was rocked by Muhammad Ali Yousuf who captured four wickets for only nine runs.

In the earlier match, Dollar East restricted CAA to 104 for nine off 20 overs with Fahhadis Bukhari (41 off 40 balls) doing bulk of the scoring. The innings was contained by the spin trio of Saadat Munir (2-9), M Umar (2-20) and Azam Hussain (2-21).

Chasing a modest target of 105, Dollar East was helped by openers Khurram and Adnan Raees who added 45 for the first wicket. Adnan departed after scoring 22 off 20 balls but Khurram remained undefeated on 52 off 47 balls while Ramiz Aziz remain unconquered with 26 off 32 balls with their completing a comfortable victory in the 17th over.
