Shots fired at residence of Supreme Court judge Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan

LAHORE: Shots were fired at the residence of Supreme Court judge Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan on Saturday night and Sunday morning, according to Geo News.

The TV channel reported that Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has reached the residence of the Supreme Court judge.

A statement said that the chief justice himself is monitoring the situation.

Police have yet to make a statement regarding the incident. The CJ is said to have summoned Punjab Police Inspector General.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry .

Rangers and police cordoned off the area and were conducting a search operation.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has condemn the firing incident , directing the authorities to arrest the elements behind it.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan took to Twitter to condemn incident.

Anwarul Haq, President Lahore Hight Court Bar, has called the incident an attack on Judiciary.

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto while condemning the firing incident has called for an independent inquiry and immediate arrest of culprit.

He said not a single stone was hurled at judiciary even after hanging of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
