Royal Caribbean’s latest ship ‘Symphony of the Seas’ is all set to claim the record of being world’s largest ship after having its inaugural journey in Barcelona this weekend.

Having the capacity to carry almost 9000 people on-board, the ship weighs 228,021 tonnes - more than 18,000 double-decker buses - and measures 362 metres in length.

It boasts a park, a shopping mall, 23 restaurants and boardwalk as well as a grand slide that runs up to ten storeys.

Talking about the magnificent ship, Captain Hampstead said, “She’s special in so many ways – she’s brand new and has the latest and greatest technology.”

“We still use our Mark 1 eyeball (using binoculars or radar to spot something far away), although we have all the technology that’s the latest out there," he added.
