SUKKUR: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, on Saturday addressing a Dastar-e- Fazilat conference in Larkana charged that the secular forces country are being given an open field whereas the religious forces are being pushed back.
Fazlur Rehman said our mosques and seminaries are considered suspicious despite our pacifist agenda. The religiopolitical forces, he said, only believe in political and constitutional struggle for Islamisation, which annoys the background players. He said the Quaid-e-Azam, while inaugurating the State Bank of Pakistan, had declared that Islamic system would be practiced in the country, but certain forces express displeasure when we raise the issue of interest free banking.
The MMA in 2002 was able to neutralise the sectarian politics but the alliance could not continue beyond 2002. He said the Madarris and its students are being victimised whereas we do we do not want any confrontation with the institutions. Besides, the institutions should remain within their constitutional ambit and must not overlap which opens way for criticism against them. He said certain political forces promised Roti, Kapra and Makan to the people but they deprived them of the basic necessities.
He said international powers led by the US are conspiring to alienate Pakistan in the region. The US is developing strong relations with India to sabotage us. Iran is not on our side either, he said. China is the only country that is fully backing us but the enemies are trying to subvert our strong relationship, he said.
Talking about the current situation of Sindh, he said those at the helm of affairs in Sindh have largely ignored the province and have done nothing to improve the infrastructure or the economy. He asked the people of Sindh to give them a chance in the election 2018 by rejecting the traditional stakeholders who have done nothing for the people. Fazl said today’s large turnout is a referendum in favour of the JUI-F.
Addressing the rally, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haderi, secretary general of the JUI-F, said the people are frustrated with the rulers who are getting rich at the expense of the common people who do not even have their basic needs. The rulers have spread corruption in all the public departments. Besides the MMA, no political party has the formula to steer the country out of crisis.
Addressing next, Ghafoor Haderi said the PTI chairman was misleading the people by telling them false stories of development and change in the KPK. The PPP on the other hand terms Larkana as it’s base but has ignored the city, he charged. The Sindh has awakened and nobody can take the people of province for a ride anymore, he said. He said the MMA will be successful across the country, adding that the sacrifices of party leader Dr Khalid Mehmood Somroo will not go in vain.
Speaking next, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed said the JUI-F was the only party in the Senate that raised its voice against amending the Khatm-e-Nabuwat (PBUH) oath.
He condemned the police brutalities in Sindh, saying Rao Anwar killed many innocents by describing them as terrorists. He demanded justice to the families of victims killed in extrajudicial encounters, while Rao Anwar’s police team should be severely punished.
Another JUI-F leader Rashid Mahmood Soomro said the evil forces of Sindh have destroyed Karachi, but it was the religious forces who re-established peace in the port city. He said if the JUI-F came to power we would arrest the killers of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Murtaza Bhutto and Dr. Khalid Mahamood Soomro.
Other leaders who spoke to the rally included Maulana Amjad Khan, Saeed Yousif, Maulana Nasir Kahlid, Maulana Aslam Ghouri, Qari Muhammed Arsalan.
Meanwhile, on the occasion, madressa certificates were awarded to 92 Hafiz-e- Quran, 36 Aalims, two Muftis and 28 Ulema.
