Too poor to qualify

March 22, 2018

According to the Sindh government’s Jobs of Teaching in Education Department (JEST) advertisement, published in a newspaper on March 20, a Bachelors in Education (B-ed) has been made mandatory for everyone applying for any of the vacancies. Undoubtedly a professional qualification, B-ed is at the same time an expensive qualification too that not everyone can easily afford.

The Punjab government too in its 2018 recruitment drive did not make the qualification mandatory, instead stated the qualification as a preference. On behalf of the thousands of unemployed youth of Sindh, I request the provincial chief minister and the education minister to kindly not make the qualification mandatory.
