The current state of public parks in Karachi hints at the fact that the authorities concerned have cut off funding for repair and maintenance of these parks. Many parks that were renovated in the past have now fallen into bad shape due to lack of maintenance. The main reason behind the deteriorating condition of parks is that the authorities do not pay attention to repair and maintenance of these parks on a regular basis.
It’s time the relevant department took corrective steps to undo the damage that has been done to the city’s recreational places. The park authorities can charge a nominal entrance fee which can be used to cover maintenance expenses. Also, park staff can ensure that visitors are not littering the park. Corrective measures should be taken to keep parks clean.
