LONDON: NAB has started its further process of video recording of two witness i.e. British citizen Robert Radely and Raja Akhtar on February 22. Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, Deputy Prosecutor of NAB left Islamabad for London on Monday to complete the process of recording.
Sources in Pakistan High Commission (HC) has confirmed that all arrangement for video recording of witness has been finalised. “Two screens will be set up in HC and Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi will supervise the process of recording, an official of the Pak HC will also be present at the recording process.”
On behalf of Accountability Court, the statement of two witnesses of video recording will be processed in the presence of Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi through video link. The former head of joint investigation team of Panama Case Wajid Zia will also be present in the Accountability Court on February 22.
NAB, which had filed three corruption references against the Sharifs in September last year, had pleaded the court to summon Zia, an additional director in the FIA.
The references pertain to the Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Flagship Investment Ltd and Avenfield properties in London. Nawaz Sharif is accused in all three cases whereas his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (R) Muhammad Safdar are accused in the Avenfield reference only. The video recording of witness is the part of Supreme Court of Pakistan’s proceeding under which the Accountability Court has been given six months to complete the proceeding of reference filed against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the members of his family.
