One of Pakistan’s leading female artists today, Saba Qamar needs no introduction. From multiple popular TV plays to films like Manto and Hindi Medium, the actor has proven her mettle time and again. The past year has been incredible for Saba with not one but two big projects to her credit. This includes drama serial Baaghi in which she essays Qandeel Baloch and her Bollywood debut, Hindi Medium alongside Irrfan Khan. The latter has bagged her a Filmfare nomination in the Best Actor (female) category for which she received rave reviews.

Speaking about the nod at one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in India, Saba shared, “It is an honour to share the spot with big names like Sridevi and Vidya Balan. It was unexpected and I’m super excited about it. I would like to thank my fans for the love and appreciation and for recognizing the talent. I am glad that Filmfare acknowledged my work unlike many other platforms that don’t always appreciate talent. This recognition and motivation is very important for artists on both sides of the border.”

It is a proud moment for Saba as well as Pakistan’s entertainment industry that the actor has been honoured with the nomination. However, we aren’t sure if Saba will be attending the event or not.

Aside from Saba (Hindi Medium), Vidya Balan (Tumhari Sulu) and Sridevi (Mom), other actors who have made the cut in the same category include Alia Bhatt (Badrinath Ki Dulhania), Zaira Wasim (Secret Superstar) and Bhumi Pednekar (Shubh Mangal Saavdhan).

Scheduled to take place tomorrow, the ceremony will be hosted by super star Shah Rukh Khan.
