While the famous Harbin ice festival is attracting thousands of tourists from around the globe, a rotating ice lake in northeast China has surprised the visitors.
The drone video, shot in Shenyang City of China's Liaoning Province on Jan. 1, shows several tourists standing on a huge ice disc rotating clockwise in a frozen river.
Scientific researches explored that the splendor phenomenon is sometimes witnessed in the North Pole, Scandinavia or Canada – where the accelerated river flow can trigger rotational force, cutting the ice free and bringing it to rotate at snail’s pace, while the perfectly round shape observed in the video is formed out of friction.
