Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman Mustafa Kamal on Monday said that he was a proud Mohaijir but does not want to indulge in politics of ethnicity like the Muttahida Qaumi Movement has been doing over the years.

Addressing a meeting of party workers in North Nazimabad, the PSP chief said the ethnic politics had failed to deliver to the people. Despite having a majority mandate in Karachi, the MQM-Pakistan had done nothing for the betterment of the metropolitan, he added.

“The Karachi mayor and the party’s MPAs seem to live on moon as they are not found amongst their people,” he said, adding that the PSP did not want to spread hatred among ethnicities and create a divide in the city.

He said the Muhajir community should feel proud when people from other ethnicities laud their efforts to create an environment of harmony and acceptance in which everybody can visit all city areas without any fear of discrimination and prejudice.

Kamal said that being a Muhajir he did not had hatred for any community. “The Muhajirs are, however, being fooled once again by the same old people,” he said, referring to the MQM-P. He said those who used ethnic card in politics for decades could not even give their people safe drinking water and instead gave them dead bodies of thousands of youths. “The MQM is the only political party in the world that has its own graveyard,” he said.

Urging people to join hands with him, the PSP chairman said the people had to stand up against the traditional politics to bring about a change. He asked the people to join the party’s December 24 gathering at the Liaquatabad flyover and start a struggle.

Meanwhile, PSP general secretary Raza Haroon claimed that the party’s upcoming public gathering would bring about a pleasant change in the city’s political atmosphere. He said the presence of a huge number of people in the event would also define the city’s political landscape.
