ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday dismissed National Accountability Bureau (NAB)'s appeal seeking to open Hudaibiya Papers Mills references against the Sharif family.

The Rs1.2 billion Hudaibiya Paper Mills case, involving money laundering charges against the Sharif family, was initiated by the anti-graft body in 2000 after Sharif was eased out of power by General (retd) Pervez Musharraf. The Lahore High Court (LHC) quashed the case in 2014. The NAB recently challenged the LHC decision to open the reference.

Political analysts have termed the Supreme Court decision a relief for the embattled Sharif family.File Photo

Today a three judge bench of the apex court headed by Justice Mushir Alam Khan rejected the NAB's plea in a brief ruling stating that the detailed judgment would be given later.

Justice Mzahar Alam Mian and Justice Qazi Faiz Isa were other members of the bench.
