LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday met to discuss the possibility of taking Javed Hashmi back into the PML-N's fold, sources said.
In the meeting, Nawaz Sharif said he never compromised on principles and would not do so in future. The Sharifs discussed the agenda of the PML-N’s CEC meeting scheduled for Monday (today). They decided that PML-N MPAs would come in contact with party office-bearers at the UC level and report all important developments to the party leadership on weekly basis.
They also discussed other issues, including party affairs, upcoming court hearings and a possible meeting with Javed Hashmi on Monday. The sources said Nawaz might invite Javed Hashmi to rejoin the party. Certain reservations of other party office-bearers were considered regarding the issue, including that of Kulsoom Nawaz.
According to the Sharif family sources, Hashmi had not honoured a request of Kulsoom Nawaz to stay in the PML-N when he decided to join the PTI. Taking back Hashmi in the party would be contrary to the visionary politics of the PML-N but a meeting would not be refused if Hashmi asked for it, the sources said, adding that his return to the party would happen only after an approval from Kulsoom Nawaz.
