On Sunday, Pakistan, it seems, did exactly the opposite to the proverb ‘catch win matches’ in their match against India in the World Cup, that left millions of cricket lovers upset. Through this defeat, Pakistan also successfully maintain their 23-year record of losing at the hands of their arch rivals in the World Cup.
As usual cricket fans have been talking about conspiracy theories, but the fact is that we have lost the match due to our appalling performance in fielding, batting and bowling. Our rivals have defeated us because we dropped a lot of crucial catches at crucial junctures. Our national team has not produced a regular wicket-keeper and fine bowlers for a very long time now. The PCB’s selection committee should look into these two defects. There is also a need to select players who can withstand the pressure of a big tournament like the World Cup.
