ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday resumed hearing of a plea seeking disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan and secretary general Jahangir Tareen for not disclosing before the Election Commission of Pakistan their assets and offshore companies and running the party through foreign aid.

A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, heard the case filed by PML-N’s Hanif Abbasi.

Imran's counsel Naeem Bukhari presenting arguments before the court, denied theimpression that the PTI chief had taken a u-turn on questions pertaining to the case by the court.

Justice Saqib Nisar remarked that the petitioner had objected to the change in stance during the proceedings.

Abbasi’s counsel Akram Sheikh said that Imran Khan changed his stance seven times during the case proceedings.

Sheikh argued thatthe new documents submitted by the PTI chairman are ‘insulting’.

The Chief Justice remarked that whenever the case moves towards final decision, a new thing surfaces, adding that the apex court is not holding a trial.

Justice Nisar said that the receipts of Bani Gala money trail from Jemima to Imran have been viewed.

The CJ remarked that the bench has to determine now whether Imran lied as a parliamentarian.

Sheikh, the counsel for Hanif Abbasi, said that he would provide the court a written response in the case in a couple of days.

Later, the hearing was until Oct 24 (tomorrow).
