Nawaz steered Pakistan out of economic bankruptcy: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday said steering Pakistan out of economic bankruptcy and putting it on the road to progress was a historical achievement of Nawaz Sharif whose unmatched services during the last four years could never be overlooked.

He said Nawaz was the sovereign of democracy and his struggle for promoting and stabilising democratic traditions in the country was exceptional.

Shahbaz said Nawaz was a leader who had always preferred the country’s development and stability. The former prime minister lived in the hearts of 200 million Pakistanis who were standing with their vibrant leader in appreciation of giving them peace, prosperity and development, he added.

In a statement, the chief minister said, “If it is a crime to serve the people and provide them with facilities, we will repeat this wrongdoing every so often.”He said the desperate political elements were attempting to secure their suffocating political career but the individuals spreading lies and mayhem were bound to face disappointment.

The chief minister said the sit-in trendsetters’ negative thinking of spreading chaos had disappointed the masses and they should confront outcome of sowing hatred in the society.He said swift development was Nawaz’s vision and straying around on the streets the destiny of his adversaries.

Shahbaz said those treating politics as a sport and trying to deceive the public would never succeed as they wanted disorder in the country.Separately, the chief minister in his message on the 45th Foundation Day of the Senate said the Upper House had played an active role in securing the privileges of the Federation and its units.

The Senate had played a significant role in providing individuals with their basic rights as well as those related to constitutional and democratic process, he noted.

The chief minister said political forces would have to be resilient for establishing democratic traditions for politicaland social development. The nation’s fate was linked with the supremacy of the Constitution and stable democracy, he added.

Shahbaz also urged all political parties to make a commitment to struggle together for strengthening democracy.Also on Sunday, the chief minister said protecting life and property of the people was the top objective for which every necessary step should be taken.

He was chairing a meeting which reviewed the initiatives taken for security of public and maintaining law and order situation in the province.Shahbaz ordered to provide security to worship places and continuing the crackdown against the criminals involved in street crimes.
