Sania Saeed talks about over-glamorizing the acting profession

Over the years the concept of stardom has changed considerably. Earlier an actor was judged by the quality of his work and not so much about his style statement but today there is a lot more to stardom than meets the eye of the screen. Aside from acting skills, it is how an actor markets himself that accounts for his or her popularity, especially on social media. Sania Saeed, who recently won an award for her remarkable performance in Sang e Mar Mar, recently spoke about the over-glamorization of artists in a conversation with Instep.

“We have made this [acting] an over-glamorized profession and this makes it superficial,” she told us. “It’s a job; we work for 12-14 hours a day and it’s not easy. But today I have a certain image to maintain to fit into the norms, to maintain a status quo. The essence of being an artist is lost and it is not just limited to commercialization but to glamorization as well. You’re making goals so easy and small; nobody wants to work hard but everybody wants to reach the top overnight.”
