Strong monsoon currents penetrating

LAHORE: Hot and humid weather continued to prevail in the city on Sunday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

Met officials said seasonal low lies over north Balochistan while strong monsoon currents are penetrating into eastern parts of country. They added that a westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist during next few days.

They predicted that rain-thunderstorm (with isolated heavy falls) is expected at scattered places in Kashmir, Islamabad, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions), Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad Divisions, Upper KP, Fata while at isolated places in DG Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Karachi, Sibbi, Zhob, Naseerabad divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan. On Sunday, rain-thunderstorm occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kalat, Mithi, Mirpurkhas divisions, Islamabad, Fata, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while weather remained hot and humid in other parts of the country.

Rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Kamra, Murree, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Kot Addu, Islamkot, Diplo, Mithi, Nagarparker, Chachro, Mirpurkhas, Dali, Khuzdar, Saidu Sharif, Malam Jabba, Kakul, Dir, Balakot, Parachinar, Lower Dir, Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bagrote, Astore and Gilgit.

Sunday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Sibbi where mercury reached 45°C while in Lahore, it was 36°C, minimum was 27.5°C and humidity level in the morning was 50 percent.
