Global warming is a universal challenge. The impact of climate change is already being witnessed by countries around the world. Experts have suggested that the rise in global temperatures will continue for a long time. The need of the hour is to take adequate measures to reduce the irreversible effects of global warming. According to experts, 25 percent of a country’s land should be covered with forest. Pakistan has less than five percent of forest land. Trees help reduce pollution and trap poisonous gases.

However, the Pakistani government is paying no attention to this problem. For widening the road, the authorities are cutting down trees. About 100 million trees have already been cut down. On the other hand, the government has failed to plant a sufficient number of trees. Proper plans should be carried out to plant trees. The UNDP has published a guide book to creation awareness among people about the inevitable effects of global warming. The government should take help from the book and conduct awareness programmes to educate people what they can do to reduce the impact of climate change.
